An athlete who wants to win goes into strict training.
They train to run…
They train to endure…
They train to win!
Training involves a lot of self-control. It requires an inner strength – strength not to indulge or act on impulse – strength to delay gratification.
Athletes agonize to win. Why? Because winning takes tremendous effort.
If we want to win spiritually, we must prepare. Life is full of unexpected events and we must be ready at a moments notice. We have to learn to live in the zone. Conditions are never perfect.
To excel as an athlete you must go into training. The same is true of following Jesus. We need spiritual workouts.
Do you have a spiritual workout regime?
Here are a few daily exercises to consider:
- Time in prayer. Spend time talking to God. Share what’s on your heart.
- Time in the Bible. Spend time reading the Bible every single day. Listen to God’s voice and his heart.
- Time in worship. Focus your attention on God.
- Time in Groups. We grow better together.
Having a game plan is important. Working that plan is essential. Spend some time working on your plan today.
