2 Corinthians 9:7 says that…”Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Did you see that? CHEERFUL Each as they determine in their heart… Paul directs us that we are to give cheerfully – NOT reluctantly.
We are to hold our God, our faith, our Savior, His church so highly that we cannot wait to give…that we would love to give! Jesus taught us in Acts 20:35 that it is more of a blessing that we give than when we receive.
You see, God’s deal in Malachi holds true today. He just amended the deal with the arrival of His son, Jesus to fulfill the law and we now give – not out of legal requirements, but out of freedom and love – that we wouldn’t be bound to 10%, but rather use that as a floor not a ceiling.
You see, everything is greater in Jesus! So why wouldn’t giving be the same? Why would we want to do less? It’s greater in the new covenant – Better promises, better giving, better living!
R. G. LeTourneau invented earthmoving machines. He gave away 90 percent of his income. But the money came in faster than he could give it away. LeTourneau said, “I shovel it out and God shovels it back – but God has a bigger shovel.”
Live your day with open hands and a grateful heart and let God shovel peace, love, contentment and blessing into your life!
