To be “In Jesus” is to accept God’s Big Deal – I want a new start, a new day, a new me. The old self finds a space in our heart and wants to keep coming back and claiming space that Jesus has already claimed as new – we use terms like inviting Jesus into our life, but the Bible says that we actually step into Jesus, who already has come to seek and to save us. And at that moment, we are in Jesus…and He takes away the old and replaces it with the new—-better you. Jesus comes inside you and you are in Him, He starts changing us from the inside out.
A new creation isn’t a new resolution – a resolution is your desire that you can be better in your future…But we aren’t talking about resolutions…we want to be new. But resolutions don’t work…right? They don’t work because you can’t make a new you from the outside in. To be made new is to allow Jesus to work from the inside out.
What it means to allow all things to become new is you allow God to create a new muscle memory in you. That new you is the you that God wants you to be…when you pray, when you worship, when you serve, when you give. The old you wants to move at a different rhythm than your new creation wants to move…there is a new expectation, a new desire, a new rhythm. To really let the new creation that God is still working on, find a community, a new rhythm to run.
Meditate on these things,,,2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. The new has come – the new is here, These are the words that God promises – the old you – it is gone and the new is here – it has come.
Revelation 21:5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
