Meet our Staff

Chuck is the Lead Pastor at Sugar Hill Church. He’s been the Lead Pastor since 2011, but he’s been around Sugar Hill Church since 2008. Since day one, Chuck’s passion has been to encourage others with this one big belief: “You can do this! You can love God with all your heart, mind and soul and be normal!” You will often hear him say, “the Bible is a very big deal, Jesus is the very biggest deal and living that out always involves serving people here and around the globe.” Chuck’s passion is to graciously lead people to Jesus and create a simple path for them to grow in their faith. Some of his goals are to reduce the dropout rate in our local schools, serve with our missions partners well, lead our church and families with a healthy fiscal plan, and in the future, to provide transitional housing for single moms. Chuck and his wife, Jenny, stay plenty busy with six daughters, three son-in-laws, five grandkids and an awesome dog, Kirby. They are foodies and enjoy eating through the Atlanta Magazine Top 50 Restaurants. Chuck’s favorite things to do include fishing, reading, writing and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs!

Bobby serves as both the Associate Pastor and the Teaching Pastor at Sugar Hill Church. He has been on staff here since December, 2008 (where he started part-time in Student Ministry). Bobby’s passion comes from a love of seeing the light-bulb go on for folks. Whether it’s in a small group, a NEXT gathering, or during a weekend message, he loves seeing people “get it” and apply the truth to their lives. As one of our pastors here, Bobby helps individuals take the next steps in their faith, he helps the church fulfill its God-given mission, and he gives day-to-day direction to our Adult Ministries, Communications, and Finance teams. In his spare time, you can find Bobby riding his motorcycle, working out, reading, or eating gas station tacos. He and his wife, Laura, have been married since January, 2011, and they have a very “manly” 10lb cockapoo named Ollie. Tripp serves as our Associate Pastor and Family Ministries Pastor at Sugar Hill Church. He’s been serving on staff here since 2014. As a pastor, speaker, writer, and coach, Tripp displays his passion to see students discover and live God’s very best for their lives and be empowered to change the world. Tripp is highly driven to not only challenge and equip students himself, but also empower others to be successful in leading students. In his spare time, you’ll find Tripp with his wife Courtney, and their three children, Kason, Cole, and Hadley. Tripp also has experience in law enforcement and coaching high school football. His greatest joy in ministry is seeing students realize the impact they can have as leaders in their school, church, community, and world.

Zach serves as our Worship Pastor at Sugar Hill Church. He’s been attending Sugar Hill Church his entire life and was on staff for a number of years before becoming Worship Pastor in 2018. He loves seeing people engage in worship, expressing their gratitude for who God is, what Jesus did at the cross, and what the Spirit of God desires to do in us and through us as His church. As the Worship Pastor, he helps pastor worship experiences for our church, encouraging a culture of authentic and meaningful response to a worthy God, along with many other things behind the scenes. He really likes guitars, he really like gadgets, and he also really likes food. He loves spending time with his wife, Karen, and their two pups. They’re expecting their first child in November, 2018! Rhonda serves as our Kids Pastor at Sugar Hill Church, and she joined our team in 2017. She loves being at Sugar Hill Church, and her passion truly is to partner with parents so they can experience God’s goodness for them, and it will trickle down to their children. Her favorite thing is to see a child begin to truly grasp what God has done for them. As Kids Pastor, Rhonda oversees infants through fifth grade, Sunday mornings, home visits, child dedications, she lines up volunteers for Kids Ministry, and she leads SHC’s SHINE Ministry. In her spare time, Rhonda loves to visit her family in South Carolina, explore new towns, and go hiking.

Carlos serves as the Pastor of Sugar Hill Español, and he’s been at Sugar Hill Church since 2014. His passion behind what he does is the desire to see a church united, where we can really reach our community and impact our world. As the Pastor of Sugar Hill Español, he is involved in many aspects of ministry. He preaches, leads worship, designs and edits graphics, leads small groups, and gives vision and direction to Sugar Hill Español. In his spare time, he loves to watch movies, find new restaurants in town, play soccer, and listen to new music while cooking. He and his wife, Jessica, have two children, Milan and Christian.

Danny is the Lead Pastor of our church partner in Benicassim, Spain. He has a huge desire to reach the unchurched population in Benicassim. He is so passionate about the gospel, and he loves teaching His word to those that don’t know him. Danny loves speaking to people in a simple way and in the way this generation wants to communicate. He always gets excited when someone gives his or her life to God and decides to have a relationship with him on a day-to-day basis. He is married to Franziska, she’s originally from Germany, and they have two kids, Inés and Fernando.

Beth started her journey with Sugar Hill Church when she married her college sweetheart, Lamar. She joined our staff team in 2002 and partners with Pastor Chuck as his assistant and coordinates our Welcome Home teams. Her passion behind what she does comes from having moved a lot in her younger years always being the new person. Her hope is that everyone who connects with SHC has an incredible “Welcome Home” experience that leads them to Jesus. Being a history nerd, it was cool to learn that the Sudderth family has had 7 generations serve at SHC with connections to the founding of the church. Beth loves dating her husband, spending time with her grown children – Matthew & Ali and Andrew, being at the beach and the mountains, cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, and often wonders “why eat regular Oreos when there are Mega Stuf Oreos?”

Austin serves as the Creative Arts Pastor on our Worship Ministry Team. Austin joined our team in May, 2018, but he’s been volunteering and serving since 2009. He is passionate about seeing people have a changed heart and a changed life through worshipping God and making Jesus the priority of their life. He has a love for music and the creative process of collaborating with our team to create a Jesus-centered worship experience. As the Creative Arts Pastor, Austin manages our technical resources, leads our production team, and works closely with our other Pastors to create a culture of worship that points to Jesus being the biggest deal. In his spare time, he loves spending time with his wife, Bea, playing guitar, and watching baseball.

Leigh Ann serves as our Worship Director as part of our Worship Ministry Team here at Sugar Hill Church. She’s been around SHC since 2003, and she was hired on staff in 2006 as the Children’s Worship Director. As our Worship Director, Leigh Ann is part of a team that prayerfully details the plans of Sunday morning worship, and she helps carry out that plan and serves as a Worship Leader on Sunday mornings. She is passionate about what she does, because she loves to be able to worship a Mighty God and she loves serving others and leading them to do the same! In her spare time, she loves getting her hands dirty through painting, building, or redesigning spaces. She also loves baseball with her two boys, ALL things nature, being active, and spending time with her husband Kevin, AKA Coach K, and their two boys, Brady and Cade.

Mauricio joined our team in March 2018 he serves with Sugar Hill Español as the Family Ministries Director. He has been at Sugar Hill Church since 2017. Mauricio was raised in more than five Latin American countries which ignited in him a deep passion for international missions. He finds great joy in helping others find their place in the Kingdom by encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone in order to reach the lost for Christ in non-traditional ways. Mauricio is married to Laura and they have 4 beautiful children. Together, Mauricio and Laura founded and run a non-profit missions organization that targets unreached communities in Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Brazil, and the USA. Mauricio is a “Motorhead” and loves working on his cars and motorcycles in his spare time.

Ricardo serves with Sugar Hill Español as the Spanish Ministry Director. He’s been at Sugar Hill Church since 2014. His mission and passion is to see people being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and serving God with love. In his spare time, he likes to travel, listen to music, and spend time his my family. He is married to Maite, and together they have three daughters, Sophia, Evelyn, and Elena. He loves being part of what Sugar Hill Español is doing in our community!

Paola is the Administrative Director of Sugar Hill Español. She began attending the Sugar Hill Moms Bible Study in 2015, and she and her husband Johan and her two girls Sara and Abby officially began attending Sugar Hill Español in July 2016. She has a servant’s heart and loves to be around people and help in any way she can. She loves our church, and she loves that her little girls are growing up knowing the Word of God in the best environment. As the Administrative Director of Sugar Hill Español, she manages the social media accounts, schedules and organizes meetings, events, and community outreach, and creates all outgoing communications, among other things! In her spare time, she loves to crochet, makes shirts and dresses for her little girls, embroider, and she just loves to spend time with her family!

Neil serves as our Pastor of Pastoral Care and Senior Adult Ministry. He’s been at SHC since 2015, and he came on staff in August 2016. He has a passion to love on people who are ill and struggling, because that’s what ministry is all about. As our Pastor of Pastoral Care, Neil makes calls on people in the hospital, nursing homes, and home care. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his grandkids, play golf, and go fishing. He and his wife, Sharon, have three adult children, Don, Robert, and Heather.

Carolie serves in SHC’s Adult Ministry Department as the Adult Ministry Assistant. She and her family have loved calling Sugar Hill Church home since 2006. She has a passion to serve others and a heart to serve the Lord. As the Adult Ministry Assistant, Carolie is involved in a lot of the outward communication to Adult Groups, and she keeps groups organized and informed throughout the year. In her spare time, she loves to decorate, travel, read, and spend time with her family! She and her husband, Yone, have two girls, Alexi and Cianna.

Debbie is the Women’s Pastor at Sugar Hill Church. She’s been on staff at Sugar Hill Church since 2017. Debbie’s passion comes from a place of wanting to teach other women profound and practical truths from the Bible. As the Women’s Pastor, Debbie organizes and plans all women’s events, teaches a weekly Bible Study, and leads other women in pursuit of the Lord any chance she gets! In her spare time, she loves to read, play tennis, and stay active with her four little dogs. She and her husband, Mark, have been married for over 26 years, and they have a daughter, Brittany, who is married to Adam.

Ethan is part of SHC’s Communication Department as the Communication Director. He’s been on staff at Sugar Hill Church since August 2016, and attended for many years before joining our staff. He has a passion to help guide SHC in communicating clearly so that as many people can hear the Good News as possible. As the Communication Director, Ethan does all things related to videos, announcements, our website, and anything else that needs a creative touch (he’s also really good at all things tech-related). In his spare time, Ethan enjoys playing video games, hanging out with his friends, and spending way too much time browsing Craigslist.

Rachel is part of SHC’s Communications Department as the Director of Social Media. She and her husband, Cory, have been attending Sugar Hill Church since March of 2015, and she has been employed at SHC since March of 2018. She has a heart for the Lord and loves to use social media as a tool to tell others about Him. As the Director of Social Media, Rachel does all things social media, website, photography, and announcement related (she also does a lot of proofreading). In her spare time, Rachel loves to cuddle with her pup, Mocha, practice her photography, and go hiking!

Joe is the Elementary Pastor for Sugar Hill Church Kids Ministry. He’s been attending Sugar Hill Church since 1995. The passion Joe has comes from the idea that empowering parents to be the spiritual heroes of the home trickles down to allowing the kids to see the gospel lived out by example. As the Elementary Pastor, Joe helps plan and organize Sugar Hill Kid ministry programing and events from birth through 5th grade with a focus on elementary age children and large group activities both on and off campus. In his spare time, he loves hiking, camping, or fishing with his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Christy, and together they have three children Amber, Hope, and Hunter.

Laura joined our team in January 2019. As the Kids Ministry Assistant, Laura does anything and everything needed to make Sunday programming, events, childcare, and all things Kids Ministry happen. She has a heart for the details and the little things that help Kids Ministry run smoothly. Her husband, Mauricio, also serves on staff as the Missions Pastor. They met in Mexico on a mission trip and spent five years in Mexico serving as missionaries in the place where God brought them together. She has 4 children and spends most of her time attempting to keep up with them. In her spare time, Laura enjoys reading anything she can get her hands on, watching movies, drinking as much coffee as possible, and taking long, quiet leisurely walks through Barnes and Noble.

Corron serves on our Family Ministries team as the Associate Student Pastor; he joined our team in 2018. Corron is passionate about displaying biblical truths, and seeing this generation of young people be the hands and feet of Jesus. He wants to pursue what the Bible says in John 17 where Jesus prays that we will be one just like He and the Father are. This oneness and love for one another are massive pieces of evidence that The Lord has sent His Son into the world to redeem us all and invite us to come home. As the Associate Student Pastor, Corron helps assist Pastor Tripp with all things students, and he helps the church pursue racial unity within the community. Corron is from Raliegh-Durham, NC and a Graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University. In his spare time, he likes to fish, bowl, and spend time with his finacée, Hannah Wood.

Joy serves on the Family Ministries team as the Student Ministries Assistant. She’s been attending SHC since 2015 and she joined our staff soon after that. Joy is passionate about what she does because she loves seeing students submit their lives to the Lord; she loves a good comeback story! As the Student Ministries Assistant, Joy helps facilitate and coordinate events for middle school, high school, and college students and she offers support to anything going on Family Ministries. She loves mexican food and dark chocolate. Joy also enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, and their three kids Ansley, Cam, and Davis.

Karen is part of SHC’s Family Ministries Department as the Family Ministries Communications Director. Karen has been attending Sugar Hill Church since 2005, and joined our staff in 2017. She loves having a part in communicating about all the cool things that are going on in Kids, Students, and College. As the Family Ministries Communication Director, Karen does all things communications and graphic design related for Kids, Students, and College, which include: emails, social media posts, message slides, print materials & magazines, websites, t-shirts & swag, and many other things. In her spare time, she loves to snuggle her puppies, spend time with friends, and work on house projects. She and her husband, Zach, have been married since 2011 and they love spending time with their son, Caleb.

Andy serves as our Middle School Pastor and our Executive Director of Facilities. Andy has been around SHC since 2015, and he’s been on staff since 2017. His passion is discipleship through working behind the scenes, as well as developing relationships with people. As our Middle School Pastor, Andy works with the Student Ministry Department to help students understand and live out God’s best for their lives. As our Executive Director of Facilities, he helps prepare the church building and grounds so that ministry can happen. In his spare time, he’s an avid watcher of sports and movies, and he loves to beat his family in games. He’s married to Jen, and they have two daughters, Emily and Kayla.

Michael is part of our Facilities Department as the Facilities Assistant. He’s been attending Sugar Hill Church since 2007, and he’s been on staff since 2010. He has a passion for what he does at SHC because he loves the people and he loves working with his hands. As the Facilities Assistant, Michael does a whole lot behind the scenes. He helps with setting up and breaking down for Bible Studies, baptisms, Sunday mornings, and other events, and he also makes sure our church looks good from the inside, out! In his spare time, you can find him cooking, playing sports, or cheering on any Miami team (with the exception of the Mets)! He and his wife, Dawn, have seven children: Brandy, Monique, Nichole, Crystal, Michael, Heather, and Alexi.

Jeff is part of our Facilities Department as a Facilities Assistant. He’s been around SHC since 1973, and he joined our staff in 2002! His passion is to play a role in the behind-the-scenes in order to have a part in providing a way for someone to experience the truth in God’s Word. He lives by the idea that you can never give up on H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday). As the Facilities Assistant, he helps set up rooms for any events, but he also makes sure things are back in order by Sunday morning. In his spare time, you can find Jeff resting and spending time with his wife, Rhonda, and his children, Brian, Tommy, Haley, and Charlie.

Ann serves as our Facility and Volunteer Concierge. She’s been attending SHC since 2008 and she’s been on staff since 2009. Ann’s passion behind what she does is being able to serve and love on people. As our Facility and Volunteer Concierge, she helps out with special projects and outside functions, she manages the church calendar, and she works with volunteers for groups. She loves to spend time with her husband, Larry, and their two kids, Kevin and Sarah.

Leah serves as our Finance Assistant. She’s been attending Sugar Hill Church since 2014, and she joined our staff in 2017. Leah began as a volunteer and has a passion to serve anywhere that she can! As the Finance Assistant, Leah helps process offerings, process bills, and do payroll. In her spare time, Leah enjoys reading and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Jeff, have three girls, Caitlyn, Kayleigh, and Kristen, and one pup, Max!

Sue is Sugar Hill Church’s Records Assistant. She’s been at Sugar Hill Church since 1993, and she’s been on staff since 2002. She began as a volunteer, and has a passion to help and serve others. As the Records Assistant, Sue helps organize and input information from guest cards, and she also compiles a prayer list from the requests each week for our staff to pray over. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, hanging out with friends and family, and reading. She’s married to Dave, and they have two children, Nick and Shelby.

Alma joined the SHC team in February 2020 and serves as our Receptionist and Ministry Assistant. She has been a member of Sugar Hill Church since 2005 and this is where she began her walk with Christ. Alma grew up in Southern California and has called Sugar Hill home since 2000. Alma has a heart for making people feel seen and reminding them that we all have a purpose. She has three sons, Victor, Junior, and Christopher and a granddaughter, Lili. In her free time, Alma enjoys reading, traveling, serving with teen girls, and spending time with family and friends.

Julie is the Director of Weekday Preschool. She’s been at SHC Weekday since 2000. She is most passionate about sharing the love of Christ with children, parents, and staff members and truly ‘’doing life’’ together. This results in men, women, and children coming into a relationship with Jesus Christ and one another as a result of this Weekday and Childcare ministry. As the Director of Weekday Preschool & Childcare Ministries, she oversees a staff of 50+ women leading preschool for over 300 children, ages 15 months – 5 years. In her spare time, she likes to play tennis, travel, and spend time hanging out with her family (Husband, Wayne, and Kids, Josh and Savannah, and their 4 lb. Yorkie, Lil’ Man). She also enjoys managing our SHC Store, which allows her to design and create new Sugar Hill merchandise for our folks to enjoy… Life truly is ‘’sweeter’’ on the hill.

Vickie is the Hospitality Director at Sugar Hill Church. She and her family have been attending Sugar Hill Church since 2005, and she’s been on staff since 2007. Vickie is service-minded and loves to be able to use her gifts to serve others at SHC. As the Hospitality Director, Vickie is in charge of our coffee ministry and providing meals for church-wide and ministry-specific events. She loves to spend time with her husband, Tim, and their two boys Elijah and Graham.
